This is one of the drawings that did not make it into the Leelanau Love ~ Color on Art Book regardless of how much I like it.
In Leelanau County, one of the lakes in the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore is called School Lake. Some of us locals call the small circular shape at the back corner of School Lake “the bowl.” It is separated by a marsh area and surrounded by steep banks on 3/4 of the bowl.
I came upon this scene on a beautiful calm day. The reflection in the lake was an exact image of the landscape and foliage growing on it’s beautiful banks.
