This project has been filled with anticipation, hoping that I could accomplish what I designed and set out to produce. Finding someone local to make the leather portion of the note book was something I had hoped for but did not think would happen. Ted Gilmer of Leelanau Trading Company lives just a few miles down the road, and we initially met over a year ago.
There were some challenging moments in the layout process and figuring out how to turn my idea into a reality. My printer Copy Central in Traverse City not only printed and hole punched but also created a 42 page pdf that could be sent to their mammoth printer to collate the pages accordingly! It all came together in a beautiful product that I am proud of, and think many will enjoy for years to come.
The Note Books are stamped with Leelanau Love on the front and filled with 40 unlined pages, clipped into the 6-ring binder. The back has my logo stamped into the leather along with Ted’s.
The beautiful Wisconsin leather has been tanned and oiled and then Ted works his magic to turn it into a custom note book for Dancing Frog Press. It comes in two shades of brown and also in black.
Each sheet of beautiful 24# birch paper has an illustration, like the Dancing Frog Press note pads. These drawings are primarily from the Leelanau Love ~ Color on Art Book.
I produced two distinct refill packs; The Leelanau Love pack and the Nature refill.
