The beauty of autumn has always spoken to my soul, ever since I was a child. I can recall the forest near my childhood home, as well as subsequent locations, drawing me in to the place where I love to be. Being in the forest is the place where I get filled up with what is necessary for me to move through life in the world.
This year the exquisite scenes of color seem endless. The smell of the decomposing leaves and pine needles when warmed by the sun causes me to want to stay out in the woods as long as possible. It is my favorite scent.
The drops of rain vibrating at the point of a leaf, the warm glow in the sky over Lake Michigan at sunrise, the mossy carpet topped with acorns and leaves, leaf shadows on leaves… I never tire of any of the striking beauty and it continues to feed my soul and spirit in ways that words fail me to describe.
Once again I am brought to a humble existence, filled with awe and love.
