I recently became an art teacher!
This was not the ordinary path one takes to arrive at their desired objective, which seems to be my mode of operation in general…getting to my destination by way of the road less traveled.
The art class that I am teaching is a 6-week volunteer effort for the 4th – 6th graders at the Leelanau Montessori school in Suttons Bay.
I started out by discussing an idea with the school director prior to the Christmas break. I shared my intentions with Eric, expressing a desire to volunteer for two hours each week. He connected me with the teachers involved with their special interest group program that happens each Friday morning.
I am not sure who is more excited, the students or me, but we are all clearly benefitting from the lessons.
Sometimes we have to simply decide to do a thing, and “get in there” and make it happen! That is the case here, and I am thrilled for the opportunity to teach art to these talented students!
